Job Description

7-Eleven is seeking a self-driven and collaborative attorney with strong interpersonal skills to support the real estate team in executing the Company’s real estate strategies across the U.S. and Canada. This is a high-volume position with strong process level and business-oriented integration requiring frequent coordination with multiple Company departments. The ideal candidate will have experience in leasing, subleasing, acquisitions, and dispositions. The work is intellectually challenging, exciting, and fast-paced. Developing innovative solutions to novel legal questions is part of our daily business.
 

You will be part of the legal team that supports 7-Eleven’s real estate business in the U.S. and Canada. You will serve as the key attorney responsible for counseling the business on a broad range of real estate matters including the structuring, drafting and negotiation of commercial real estate transactions. Additionally, you will oversee and collaborate with a team of highly-skilled real estate paralegals.
Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate leases, lease renewals, lease amendments, estoppels, SNDAs, sales contracts and other real estate related documents.
  • Supervises real estate paralegal support of the real estate transactional docket.
  • Support strategic Real Estate transactions and special projects.
  • Thinks strategically - takes a broad view of the business, industry, and consumer environment to anticipate and plan for the future. Identifies the focus and defines where to play, how to win and what capabilities and management systems are required.
  • Demonstrates agility and ability to anticipate change, draw legal conclusions and solutions, and swiftly mobilizes to adapt to changing needs and demands of the legal and business teams.
  • Strives for excellence in execution and proactively seeks ways to improve personal and organizational effectiveness to meet current and future business needs.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Juris Doctor
  • Experience: 5-6 years in private practice
  • Strong written communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills to facilitate ever-changing workload prioritization and deadline management.
  • Strong grasp of leases, legal concepts and documents associated with commercial retail real estate, with particular strength in lease transactions and leasehold issues.
